Mr Barnes watering our garden

Mr Barnes, our caretaker waters the plants outside our classroom once a week. Everyone in room one enjoys these weekly visits as everyone knows that if we go over to the window Mr Barnes will spray our windows - much to the delight of everyone. Squeals of delight and laughter fill the air.

Flowers

We made these flowers, using hot and cold colours. We used a collage technique to make the stem and leaves. We used the technique of mixing colours for the middle of our flowers.
The flowers are all unique and we are proud of what we achieved.

Butterfly house - Week 6 Term 3 2012

Spring is in the air and this week at school we spied the first monarch butterflies of the season. The butterflies have visited the swan plant outside the junior office and many little white eggs have been found. Eager to get some butterflies inside the butterfly house we opened up the front of the house - did we see any butterflies visit - no not one!!! Maybe we will have more luck next week.

Trip to the observatory

On Tuesday we headed to the observatory as an introduction to our topic on the Earth,  Sun and Moon
It was a trip that everyone enjoyed. Below are some photos to show you what we did.

While on the Harbour Bridge we saw the sky tower and a lot of boats.

We went on a bus along the motorway.

We sat on comfy seats to watch a presentation - 'The little star that could'

We looked at displays in the foyer.

We had a session in the space classroom - where we talked about the sun, earth and moon.

A visit to Room 4

On Friday we visited Room 4 and they showed us the flowers they had changed using dye.  We were so impressed. Room 4's flowers were very colourful and a lot stronger in colour than ours. Was this because they used dye or was it because they used different flowers. What do you think?

Coloured Flowers

Last week we looked at primary colours. We did an experiment where we filled a container with food colouring to see if we could turn white flowers into coloured flowers. We made predictions and then waited to see what would happen.
