On Thursday we had 'blue' day. We started the day by sharing in things that we had brought in that were blue and as you can see from the photos some of us had made a point of wearing a little bit of blue.
In the afternoon we proudly wore our badges to the Junior syndicate assembly where we all shared what we had been doing during 'blue day'. It was a great way to end the day.
This week we have continued to explore the water cycle building on the knowledge we already have. Our shared book has been the on line book ' Drizzle the drop' and our poem was been 'The Water cycle' We have explored the following on line activity to reinforce our learning with each of us completing this activity and printing it off.
We then made our own terrariums so that we could view the water cycle first hand.
Last week Christiane brought in a KFC box which had the instructions on a neat activity called Ice melting madness. The game was simple in groups of 2 or more you had to melt a cube of ice There were a few simple rules namely every team member had to hold the ice at least once and you were not allowed to place the ice in your mouth. We worked in groups of 4 and timed how long it took us to melt the cube of ice. The fun we had and the innovative ways we found to melt the ice. Some of us blew on it, others rubbed it on their faces while others popped in donwn their tops! It was so much fun we did it three times until our supply of ice ran out!!! Most groups managed to get faster in melting the ice.
At the end of the week , we were delighted to see that our water terrariums are working, with our water cress sprouting. We took the following photos of our work.
In week 5 we had an visit from Sally from Water care who inspired us to take care with what we put down our drains as they all lead to the sea. With Sally we also made rivers and streams and had a great deal of fun together.
In week 6 to our delight on Wednesday and Thursday morning we found the field just outside our classroom a wonderful sea of white. With our class camera we each took turns to capture the frost. See our photos below taken by the budding photographers in room 15. We then wrote poems about the frost. Look out for these as they will feature shortly on our blog.
On Friday night we had the school disco - a chance to dress up to be wild and wacky. From the photos below you can see that a lot of us enjoyed exploring the many different ways you can wear glow sticks. It was a great evening, enjoyed by all.
Brodie wrote about going to his friend's place. Listen to him read his recount and find out what he did there. He drew his pictures with KidPix and Mark videoed him.
Christiane went up North with her family. Listen to her recount and find out what special thing she ate. Christiane drew her pictures using KidPix and was videoed by Celine
