Week 7 Term 4 2009

This week we have explored the importance of sun safety. We worked in groups to look at the different styles of sunhats - ranking them. After much discussion, it was agreed that the best hat to wear in the sun is one with a large brim.

During the week we have enjoyed listening to this song which reinforces the things we need to keep in mind when going out in the sun.

To reinforce our learning we have completed this on line activity - helping Dorothy the dinosaur get ready for a day at the beach.

Week 6 Term 4 2009

This week we have talked a lot about the people we can trust in our family, school and community. On Friday we had a visit from Constable Harwood - it was great to have him teach us again. He went over some of the important things we have covered this term.
- making sure we know our name, address and phone number
- how to keep save on the internet
- what number to call in an emergency.
Constable Harwood went over the tip of saying 1 go 1 go 1 if we have to report an emergency.

We had a great deal of fun with Constable Harwood and look forward to seeing him again in our School.

Sarah and her Mum brought Alma in on Friday to say goodbye. Alma will start her training to be a guide dog next week. Sarah and her family have looked after Alma for just on a year and Alma has been a regular visitor to our school and classroom. We will miss seeing Alma at school BUT wish her all the best as she trains to help keep a blind person safe in our community.

Week 5 Term 4 2009

On Tuesday we took part in the juniors 'huff and puff' event which saw all the children running around the back field, class by class.
Boys
Girls

Neve brought in some shadow puppets she'd made at home - after taking home a reader about them. She made a girl and a dog - we used the data projector to view them. It was an opportunity to recap what we knew about keeping safe around dogs. - Be a tree if an angry dog comes towards you, ask the owner if you want to pat their dog, always pat a dog under their chin

On Friday Sarah brought in her cat 'Jack' - just look at the size of him!!!

This week we have looked at this website - to reinforce our learning about safe and unsafe placed to play. Once you get to the website - you need to click on fun games and select the game - safe places to play.

We also looked at using jigsaws to reinforce our learning as they contain safety messages.

We have continued to look at bikes with this week reading an article about Motocross. Some of us have begun to use the computer programme 'inspiration' to show all the different types of bike we know.

Our favouirte t.shirt by Brodie and Mark

After reading the shared book Tim's t.shirt we wrote a description of our favourite t.shirt. The t.shirts that Tim decided to wear each day, told us a lot about the type of person Tim was.
What do Brodie and Mark's favourite t.shirts tell you about them?
