Using a T chart

This week we have explored how we can use a T chart to sort and organise information. We looked at living and non living things.


We started by drawing living and non living things and putting them on the chart.


We then used a mimio activity to reinforce our learning.


We also wrote about living and non living things and drew an image on KidPix. We will use our images on KidPix to illustrate our writing of living and non-living things. Look out for us reading our stories in the weeks to come.

School Picnic

On Friday night we had the annual school picnic. Families met on the back field to have their picnic dinner and to join in the games organised by 'Kelly sports' and the teachers. It was a night full of fun.

Great problem solving Finlay

Finlay has a number of toys he'd like to share with us but we have a school rule that no one is allowed to bring toys to school. To over come this problem Finlay got his family to take a photo of him with his toy. He brought the photo to school and told us all about his remote control car. We then took a photo of Finlay holding his photo - how about that!!!

Swimming

We have been enjoying our daily swims in the school swimming pool. Over the past two weeks a lot of us have become a lot more confident in putting our heads under the water and we are proud of our efforts.



Sometimes the water is a little cold when we get in !!!!


Some of us are learning to float on our backs with the aid of a flutter board.



All in all we have a great deal of fun in the pool. We hope you will join us for the junior school swimming sports in a few weeks time.

Mimio board

We have a mimio board in our classroom and have been using it to support our learning. We have been learning about the pronouns- he, me and she. In this activity the children had to put the right pronoun under each picture and draw a picture of themselves.

T. shirts

After reading the T. shirt book we have been bringing in our favourite T. Shirts to share - it's great to see what everyone likes to wear at home. Thanks to Gabriel and Terina who took the photos.

We have been learning how to use the computer programme KidPix. We drew ourselves very carefully and then used the paint tool to colour in our picture. For most of us it is the first time we have used KidPix. Look out for more of our pictures throughout the week.

Week 2 Term 1 2011

Since starting school we have been working very hard to finish some pictures of ourselves. On Friday we shared them at the Junior syndicate assembly. We are all very proud of our work.
