Safe walking poems by Aart and Ryan

Listen to Aart and Ryan read their safe walking poems. What important safe walking message did they share?

Week 3 Term 4 2009

Last week we discussed how important it is to know our name, address and phone number and that it is information that should only be shared with people we trust.

Following on from this, this week we have explored how to keep ourselves safe when using the internet. Over the week we have watched two videos that have stressed that it is very important that we do not give our name, address and phone number over the internet or to people we do not know.

Week 2 Term 4 2009

This week we have revisited all the key messages we learnt about dog safety last week and have written poems. Look out of these in the coming weeks as they are placed on the blog.

We have shared with each other something we are good at and have drawn pictures of ourselves on KidPix. We will make little movies using these next week so look out for them.

Safe walking

This term we are exploring 'safety' in our community. We started with a session on safe walking - making sure we crossed safely and looked in sneaky driveways. Below are photos during this session.

We came back to the classroom and made a wordle of the key words and messages from our session.

We have used the knowledge we have gained about safe walking to write poems. Look out for these in the coming week.

Later in the week we explored how to be safe around dogs. We went on to a website and discovered that around dogs that are active and a little bit scary we should be a tree.

On Friday we had a visit from the dog handler and he was impressed that we knew how to be 'a tree'. At the end of the session we all got to pat the dogs - that is after we had asked the owners if we could and we patted the dogs under their chins.

Y charts by Hanbin

Hi there DS from room 6 .Here are some of the Y charts Hanbin has filled in before he has written an information report. We always use Y charts to organise the facts we collect about a topic. Sometimes we draw little images to help us remember the facts and sometimes we write key words. Click on the image to enlarge it.
