The art of print making

Over the past few weeks we have been exploring the art of printmaking. We started with making handprints and turning these into fish - using a thumbprint for the mouth of the fish.





These beautiful fish are on display in our classroom.

Pushing shapes with a straw

As part of our work on pushing and pulling we tried to push a range of objects with a straw. We all made a prediction about which shape ( a ball of newspaper, golf ball, ping pong ball and a marble) we thought would roll the furtherest. We then tested our predictions.


We discovered that we had different techniques of blowing through a straw and that Terina was very skilled at making all of the shapes move. Well done Terina.

Technology challenge

On Friday we took part in the technology challenge - Making a swing for ' Sonny Bee'. It was a great opportunity to work as a team to create a swing. We all worked so well together and were very pleased with our respective swings.

Butterfly House

Great news - Mr Barnes has been very busy working on the butterfly house and this week the roof went on. We stopped and admired his work.

Windmills -

Miss Rall our student teacher made some windmills with us on Thursday and holding them we found we could get them to move very slowly if we pushed air into them by blowing.

However on Friday we discovered the wind does an even better job of pushing our windmills !!!!! What fun we had. Watch the videos and join in our fun.

School Assembly - on Friday

This Friday we are running the school assembly with our buddy class room 8. As part of our assembly we are looking at the different words we can make from the word - 'supercalifragilisticexpislidocious' It is a lot of fun. We have enjoyed watching this video.

Our art work

We have finally finished our art work based on the pictures made by Eric Carle in the story 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar'
We followed a similar process that Eric Carle did - drawing a caterpillar and then using it as a template to make the caterpillar with its various shades of green. Our work is on display in the library.
