Week 2 Term 2 2010

This week we had our second table tennis lesson, learning to keep our eye on the ball / balloon. Just look at the concentration on these children's faces.



We also got to play a game which saw us concentrate so hard as we tried to keep the table tennis ball from falling on to the floor by blowing it back across the table.




At the end of the lesson Flynn played a little table tennis with our coach. We captured this on video. We are very proud of Flynn - a very impressive effort from a 5 year old.

Harold !

We had another enjoyable session in the LIfe Education caravan at the end of the term. When we got back to class we talked about some of the things we had learnt. We decided to show our new learning by drawing a picture of Harold on KidPix. Enjoy

Week 8 Term 1 2010

This week we had an enjoyable session in the Life Education caravan - where we got to meet Harold and learn about the 9 things we need to keep healthy they are



1. Water
2. Food
3. Oxygen
4. Exercise
5. Sleep
6. Daily Washing
7. Safety
8. Shelter
9. Love

This week we also painted some 'wild things'. I wonder who painted each wild thing - look out for our podcast later in the week where we will tell who painted each 'wild thing'.

We watched a show this week with the 'Polka dots and Booster Rooster' about keeping safe when in a car. We were told that until you are 148cm's tall you should travel in a booster seat. We sang a song and had a great deal of fun.




We all could walk under the sign - which means all the children in room 6 are under 148cm's tall.



We read a shared book called I can write. It looked at some of the things you can write on and in. We had fun exploring different things we could write in and on. We took turns to take photos of each other. Look out for our version of the book later in the week.

We have been exploring the book 'Where the wild things are' in drama. We have been moving like a wild thing and pretending we are Max.

This weeks shared book has called 'What can you see'. We liked looking at the black and white images - looking for all the animals we could see within it.

We then drew our own black and white images - cut them out and together we made two pictures.

Words we know

As the children came in for the afternoon - they each had a turn writing some of the words they know how to write independently using 'wordle' . We then choose the image we liked the most for our blog.

Week 5 Term 1 2010

Well its been another busy week. On Tuesday we went to a show called 'You've got the power' which reinforced the values we hold dear at Sunnybrae - Respect, Independence, Co operation and Excellence.

The photo below was taken as we watched the show - it was so entertaining - we were totally captivated.

On Wednesday we took part in the junior school swimming sports.



On Friday Martin brought in 'cookie'. Martin was able to answer all the question asked of him . Martin is teaching him to say 'pretty boy' and he has to make sure that he has fresh water and enough food.

Week 3 Term 1 2010

We have had another busy week at school some of the highlights would be -
On Thursday we had a session with some coaches from United soccer. We thoroughly enjoyed kicking the ball around.


We have read a shared book - Time for bed. When reading this book, we discovered that some animals and insects are awake at night while others are awake during the day. We sorted the animals we knew into two piles.


Some of us have painted 'owls' - look out for these over the next few days.
