What will happen if....

This week we looked at what will happen if we mixed oil and water together. We had to make a prediction as to whether it would mix or separate or react.



We each got a chance to shake it.

School Picnic

Friday night we had the annual school picnic with families meeting together on the back field to enjoy an evening of fun. It was lovely to see some of the children from room one

We are learning to use the flip video camera and smile when we are in front of the camera. We read a sentence we have written. Well done Leo.

Science in a van

Alan visited our school and made some amazing bubbles. Watch this video to see some of the enormous bubbles he made.



He talked to us about mixtures. Some mix together, some separate while others cause a reaction.

Blowing bubbles

This week we have explored how water can be mixed with shampoo, dish washing liquid, bubble bath to make bubble mixture. We wondered if the colour of the mixture would make different coloured bubbles. Over several days we blew a lot of bubbles as we explored the different mixtures. We had a lot of fun and found that shampoo made the biggest bubbles and that all the bubbles were clear.

Swimming

Swimming in our school pool is a great way to cool down on hot days. We swim at 1:30 to 1:50 Monday to Thursday.
A lot of us are learning to gain confidence in the water while others of us are learning to glide across the pool with a flutter board.

When I asked Ben about the heart he had made he replied - I love my mum.
So thanks to all the mum's, dad's and extended family members who have helped to make the transition to school a smooth and happy one.

Butterfly house - caterpillars galore

Finlay and his family visited the butterfly house this week and took these amazing photos of all the wonderful caterpillars happily munching on the swan plants.

Who would have thought that we would have had so many caterpillars in our butterfly house - just imagine what the butterfly house will look like when all those caterpillars turn into beautiful butterflies.
