Hosting the school assembly with Room 8

Toady we hosted the school assembly with Room 8. We sang one of our favourite songs - We are  a bright star. We also shared some descriptions of fairy tale characters. We had a lot of fun and we thank all the members of our families that came to watch.

Mr Barnes

Mr Barnes, very kindly brought in his toy to show us. He has had the toy for 30 years and has looked after it very carefully. He still has its original box.
Thank you for sharing this toy with us Mr Barnes - we thought it was awesome.

The big sad wolf

As a school we watched the show - 'The big sad wolf'. Before we went, we made a prediction of the fairy characters we would see - Goldilocks, Three little pigs, Little red riding hood, Billy Goats Gruff, Wolf. We didn't see any goats but we saw the other characters.

Self Portraits

This term we have had a lot of fun using dye with bubble mixture in it to create interesting patterns.
We used a straw to blow the bubbles and then placed the paper on the paper. We used warm colours and then contrasted these with cold colours. We had a lot fun.

Clowns

For art, we have used pastel and dye to create these colourful clowns. We have also written descriptions  of clowns and these can be seen in our classroom.

Sorting our toys

This week we each brought a toy to school. During the week we sorted our toys and found that they belonged to one of two groups. Those made of plastic and those with soft bodies.

We also looked at toys that we could change e.g. position of their arms, transform into something else.

At the end of the week we each took a photo of our toy which we will use for motivation when writing next week.

Toys, toys and more toys

Today we started our unit on recreational pastimes by visiting the Tinderbox show. Richard had a lot of reproduction toys that we were allowed to play with. All the toys were made of wood and string and we had a lot of fun playing with them. Richard told us that these types of toys would have been made by the children's parents or older brothers and sisters.
