FIre fighters

Today we had a visit from the fire fighters from Takapuna fire station. They were so impressed that we knew how to firewise. We told them
- that matches are tools not toys
- if we find matches we will give them to an adult.
- smoke does not have any sound so that is why we need smoke detectors in our homes
- if we hear a smoke detector - we have to get out FAST and not stop to pick up favourite toys, pets e.t.c.
- if there is smoke - we have to get down low and get out FAST

We watched fire fighter Troy get into all of his fire gear- They timed him and it took him 55 seconds. We were all very impressed. When he goes into a fire, fire fighter also gets down low.

Planting seeds

As November is 5 plus a day month - we decided to plant some seeds, so we could watch them grow.
Planting seeds was a lot of fun.

Art exhibition

Every second year at Sunnybrae Normal School we put on an art exhibition where everyone in the school has a piece of art work put on display in the hall. It is always a fantastic display and this year was no exception. We enjoyed looking at our own work and the work of others - see the photos below

A visit from Bruce Potter

Today we had a visit from Bruce Potter an author and illustrator. He sang songs to us, drew characters and made us all laugh. It was a great way to start Term 4.

Special guests

We would like to thanks all the family members who joined us at school at the end of last term to look at the lovely sand saucers we had made, watch us doing some folk dancing and talk about toys you had when you were little. It was a lovely way to end our unit on toys.

Sand saucers

We are looking forward to making sand saucers on Thursday and showing them to our special guests. On Friday Mrs Rennie-Younger brought in some flowers to show us what a sand saucer looks like and then we each designed our own sand saucers.
