Butterfly house

It has been all go in the butterfly house this week and it has been so EXCITING.

On Monday we looked in the butterfly house and at first we couldn't see our budding caterpillars. Then we spotted a beautiful chrysalis hanging from the swan plan. Mr Barnes came along and told us to look up - and sure enough there were two caterpillars. One had stuck itself to the netting, the other had crawled all the way to the top of the wooden post and was sitting there.

On Tuesday the caterpillar on the net had turned into a chrysalis and the caterpillar on the wooden post was hanging in the letter J.

On Wednesday the caterpillar on the wooden post had created a chrysalis.

Dinosaur fun - thanks room 14

Room 14 drew this amazing dinosaur on our school playground. We watched with interest as they drew a grid and the dinosaur began to appear. Can you see what type of dinosaur they drew - its fierce, a meat eater and has 2 powerful legs......

It was T. Rex

We got Blake to lie down beside the dinosaurs leg to get an idea of how big T. Rex really was. We discovered he was quite a bit bigger than Blake!!!!

We stood along its tail .......

We stood around its mouth !!!

Then we stood anywhere we wanted to on the dinosaur.

Thanks room 14 for making such a cool dinosaur in our playground and letting us join in the fun.

Dinosaur song

Mrs Rennie-Younger has returned and is happy to be surrounded by the room 6 children who have learned so much about dinosaurs over the past 5 and a half weeks under Mrs Chambers careful and enthusiastic guidance.

This week we have enjoyed listening to his song. The children are keen to share it with you all and have asked me to place it on the blog. Enjoy.

Week 1 and week 2 Term 4 2010

In week 1 Mrs Rennie-Younger headed off for 5 weeks to work as a teacher administrator for the National Education Monitoring Project and the lovely room 6 is being taught by Mrs Chambers. This term we are looking at footprints in the past, with a focus on dinosaurs.

In week 1 room 6 recorded what they knew about dinosaurs using a Y chart.

In week 2 the children had to search through the sand to find some very special dinosaur bones!!!! Once all the bones were found they carefully put the bones together to discover what dinosaur they had made. It was the great dinosaur dig.
